    Essential Duties

    The Medical Clerk is responsible for organizing and maintaining patient medical records.

    General Job Responsibilities

    • Complies, verifies and reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy
    • Retrieves clinical records from referring physicians as needed through communication with physician offices, administrators and other healthcare professionals
    • Responds to requests for medical records from insurance companies, processes letters and reports
    • Photocopies records and documents for billing and/or legal services
    • Contact insurance companies to verify receipt of records and utilizes online insurance resources to obtain copies of explanation of benefits
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    General Job Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices is preferred
    • Background in ICD-10/CPT codes is preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
    • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
    • Must have strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task
    • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
