Essential Duties

The DME Coordinator will outsource patients to a DME provider for CPAP or AutoPap therapy.  Responsible for initiating the process, administrative work is completed and create a positive customer service experience to patients.

General Job Responsibilities

  • Initiate the process of DME set up for patient
  • Send medical results to physicians and hospitals
  • Ensure the Letter of Medical Necessity is received and signed by referring physician
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Create order for CPAP therapy
  • Request outstanding reports from physicians’ offices
  • Analyze, extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and develop the medical terminology and professional acumen to ensure patient compliance with physician’s orders
  • Coordinate with referring offices as necessary for complete patient information
  • Create positive experiences for internal and external customers through patience, communication and empathy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

General Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1 year of patient DME experience is preferred
  • 2-3 years of previous verification and eligibility experience is preferred
  • Exemplary customer service skills and experience
  • Previous experience in using an EMR system
  • Experience with third party payor sources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with referral sources, staff, patients and insurance companies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Highly organized and have the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
